Albert Yelyang is the National Network Coordinator of the Ghana office of the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP-Ghana). He has several trainings (certified and non-certified) and experience in the areas of administration; financial management; conflict/Human Security early warning, analysis and response; police and security sector reforms; programming in peace and development interventions, monitoring and evaluation, organisational development, research in peace and conflict risk assessment, peace and security analysis, and he is a training consultant. Albert is experienced in facilitating workshops/meetings of third party interventions including preventive bilateral engagements, dialogue processes including mediation of communal conflicts on ethnicity, chieftaincy, religion, community natural resources and environment. He is experienced in moderating local and national roundtables especially on policy issues on security and human rights in mining, oil and gas.
Albert has an MA in Peacebuiling from the Coventry University in UK, BA in Management Studies from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and a Higher National Diploma in Secretaryship and Management Studies from the Tamale Polytechnic. He is a post-graduate Diploma alumnus of Peace And Security in Africa (PASA), Uppsala University, a SIDA International training beneficiary, and an Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Scholar. He has certificates in Governance, Development and Peacebuilding Monitoring and Evaluation from the TMG/Mitchell Group and Pittsburgh, a USAID sponsored program.
Albert initiated the Ghana version of WANEP’s National Early Warning System launched in 2009 under the DFID and Christina Aid support. He served for 9 years as civil society Focal Point for ECOWAS’s Early Warning and Response (ECOWARN) mechanism in Ghana. He also served as a member of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) on Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. These achievements are founded in 17 years in the peacebuilding and development field.
