0

The 18th WANEP General Assembly, taking place on 26-27 March 2025 in Accra, Ghana, will focus on the evolving dynamics of multilateralism and regionalism in West Africa. The event will explore the challenges and opportunities for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in promoting peace, security, and sustainable development across the region.

Key discussions will center on:

  • The changing landscape of regional integration and the critical role of CSOs in supporting ECOWAS and other regional initiatives.
  • WANEP’s strategic direction for 2026-2030, including a review of achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from the current strategic plan.

The 18th General Assembly will bring together delegates from WANEP’s National Networks, members of the WANEP Regional Board, staff from WANEP’s Regional Office, Liaison Coordinators at the African Union and ECOWAS, as well as strategic partners including ECOWAS, the African Union, the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), and other potential partners.

As WANEP moves into a new phase of institutional growth, the 18th General Assembly will serve as a platform for reflection and strategic planning, ensuring greater resilience, efficiency, and collaboration in advancing the goals of peace and development in West Africa.
