The recent boom in the prices of minerals, especially gold in the world market has led to a significant increase in the contribution of mining to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which has trebled from 3 percent in 2009 to 9 percent in 2016 with its share of exports also increasing from 43 percent to 69 percent.
