As part of its Youth Transformational Empowerment and Mentorship (Y-TEaM) Programme, WANEP has launched the Mentorship Phase, a dynamic component that connects the programme’s 30 young mentees from 15 West African countries with a network of experienced and trusted men and women. These resource persons, respected leaders and professionals in their fields, are committed to guiding, inspiring, and supporting them on their journey of self-discovery and growth.
From 20 October 2025 to 20 January 2026, each mentor will accompany two young people through an online learning and coaching framework, focusing on personal development, career planning, and life goals.
Drawing on their rich professional and personal experiences, mentors will adopt an active listening approach to help mentees explore their potential and fears, discover their purpose, and grow into well-rounded individuals who demonstrate strength and leadership in addressing the development, peace, and security challenges facing their communities.

As John Crosby aptly said, “Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.”
WANEP extends its best wishes to all participants for a fruitful and transformative mentorship journey.
Through Y-TEaM, WANEP reaffirms its strategic commitment to nurturing young changemakers who will contribute meaningfully to peace and development across West Africa.
