Officially launched on July 17, 2025, the online training series of WANEP’s Transformational Youth Empowerment and Mentoring Program (Y-TEaM) ended on December 10 & 11, 2025.

Out of the 31 participants enrolled in the programme, 27 (14 young women and 13 young men) successfully completed the online training. The programme was structured into seven training sessions covering 12 topics across 12 modules, 3 open discussions, and 2 panel discussions.

Drawing on diverse backgrounds, 23 facilitators (12 women, 11men), experts in peace and security from WANEP, the African Union, and ECOWAS, were mobilised to strengthen the participants’ capacities.

The mentees reported acquiring significant knowledge through this online training programme. They will now prepare to present their community project promoting peace and social cohesion to a panel in January 2026.

Session 7, held on December 10 and 11, 2025, and which marks the last online training session for the mentees of the cohort 2025, was specially filled with three moments of sharing. The mentees had the chance to listen to the respective journeys of four Y-TEaM Alumni from the Cohorts 2023 and 2024, to learn about their experiences of professional integration. They were also edified by three young leaders of associations on their experience as young peacebuilders in communities in Benin, Liberia, and Ghana and to finish, there was a storytelling session which allowed them to listen to the rich background of Mrs. Edwige MENSAH, Coordinator WANEP Liaison Officer at ECOWAS in Nigeria, Mr. Seyram ADIAKPO, Coordinator of WANEP-Togo, and Mrs. Denise SANTOS INDEQUE, Coordinator of WANEP-Guinea Bisau.

WANEP commends the successful implementation of this six-month online training programme for young people from the 15 member states of West Africa and is convinced that the future of peace will be nurtured by these seeds of peace.
