It is with great joy that we announce the commencement of our 25th-anniversary celebration, with the unveiling of the anniversary logo today, under the theme: “25 Years of Building Peace and Inspiring Change“. Our chosen theme is reflective of the very inspiring WANEP story and journey over a quarter of a century. It is a testimony to WANEP’s unwavering commitment to building peace and inspiring positive transformations across West Africa and beyond. It aligns with our vision of creating a “West Africa region characterized by just and peaceful communities where the

dignity of the human person is paramount, and where the people can meet their basic human needs and decide their own direction.” The occasion presents a significant opportunity to celebrate our resilience, reflect on our accomplishments, and embrace the promising future that lies ahead!

Charting New Pathways:

As we celebrate this remarkable journey, WANEP remains steadfast in its commitment to shaping a future marked by enduring peace and sustainable development. This commemorative year serves as both a reflection and a resolute pledge to advance along a transformational path. Guided by our mission, we will continue to provide a dynamic platform for practitioners and institutions to collaboratively address the root causes of conflicts and chart pathways to lasting peace. We will also continue to facilitate cooperative responses with State actors, ensuring a regular exchange of experiences and information while influencing policies on peacebuilding and conflict transformation. Upholding West Africa’s rich social and cultural values as invaluable resources for peacebuilding remains central to our journey.

In unity and determination, we move forward, charting a path that resonates with our vision, embraces our mission, and reflects the enduring spirit of peacebuilding across West Africa.

Anniversary Events:

• Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives: Engaging in impactful CSR initiatives at the national level to reinforce our dedication to social responsibility.
• Peace Walk: A symbolic Peace Walk uniting us in a shared commitment to peace, solidarity, and unity.
• Media Shows/Programmes: Collaborating with media partners to share our journey, challenges, and successes through special shows and programmes.
• Planting of Anniversary Trees: Undertaking a tree-planting initiative symbolizing our commitment to sustainable peace and environmental consciousness.
• Telling our story: An exhibition describing the rich history, accomplishments, and transformative impact WANEP has had on peacebuilding in West Africa.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our WANEP community, namely our core and earmarked funders, our technical partners, and other stakeholders in West Africa, across the African continent, and at the global level for their unwavering support throughout these 25 years.
