West Africa Early Warning Outlook 2026

Africa in 2025 was shaped by a convergence of unconstitutional change of government, democratic backsliding, protracted conflicts, and efforts to strengthen resilience amid weakened regional norms. Despite sustained regional and international efforts to promote democratic governance, Guinea- Bissau experienced another military coup on 26th November 2025, the day before the National Electoral Commission announced provisional results from the 23rd November 2025 Presidential and Legislative elections.
