{"id":9564,"date":"2025-05-07T15:55:56","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T15:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wanep.org\/wanep\/?p=9564"},"modified":"2025-05-07T15:55:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T15:55:56","slug":"wanep-supports-multistakeholder-training-on-disaster-risk-reduction-in-zambia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wanep.org\/wanep\/wanep-supports-multistakeholder-training-on-disaster-risk-reduction-in-zambia\/","title":{"rendered":"WANEP Supports Multistakeholder Training on Disaster Risk Reduction in Zambia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), in collaboration with the Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD), and with support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the African Union<\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\"> (AU),<\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\"> is supporting a three-day multistakeholder training workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), taking place from\u00a0<strong>7 to 9 May 2025<\/strong>\u00a0in Zambia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">The training convenes 38 participants drawn from key state institutions\u2014including the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), and Bureau members from the Ministries of Defence, Finance, Health, and Foreign Affairs\u2014as well as civil society organisations (CSOs), the media, and academia from national, provincial, and district levels. The workshop aims to strengthen capacity in addressing both natural and human-induced threats such as drought, deforestation, illegal logging, and water-related conflict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">A major highlight of the workshop is the emphasis on reinforcing people-centred early warning systems across the entire value chain to enhance disaster preparedness and response.
